Frequently Asked Questions
Demilec Spray Foam insulation is an insulation and air barrier material that seals walls, floors, and ceiling cavities against air movement. It starts to expand as soon as it hits oxygen. It fills in all the cracks, crevices, and all the hard to reach places. When properly applied by a certified spray foam installer, the Spray Foam will expand many times its original size. When it expands, it creates an air tight barrier preventing air leakage or infiltration. This dramatic expansion is what makes Demilec Spray Foam great for new construction and existing homes in New York.
When we come to your space to install the spray foam, first we cover all surfaces and put down protective materials. If the project is for an existing home or building, we clear the space of existing insulation and remove it. We then spray the foam in the walls, ceiling, and attic, covering all surfaces we need to create the full, even layer of foam that insulates the building. When finished we clean up the space completely.
Yes, the manufacturers we work with give a lifetime warranty on the product. We also offer a 2 year warranty on our installation of spray foam. This covers everything – the foam itself and the work completed on the project.
There are many benefits associated with spray foam insulation. Spray foam’s expanding and hardening properties almost triples the wall strength at the site of application. At the same time, the spray foam works like a glue to hold roof sheathing in place. This is especially important in areas that have high winds. Plus, spray foam is made of polyurethane which prevents mold growth compared to other insulation products and improves the air quality of your home.
Spray Foam is absolutely safe. We’ve been insulating homes in New York, Western Massachusetts, and Connecticut for 16 years. We would not install any home insulation products in the homes of our family and friends if we didn’t think it was safe. It is safe and eco-friendly as well as it can be used for soundproofing and moisture resistance. We are a certified spray foam company and we pride ourselves in handling our materials safely and efficiently. More about Spray Foam safety here.
